Job Description
Join ModivCare as a Non-Emergency Medical Transport (NEMT) Driver, where you’ll play a vital role in ensuring patients safely and comfortably reach their medical appointments and other essential healthcare destinations. This position offers flexible shifts, perfect for individuals seeking work-life balance or supplementary income. You will be responsible for operating a company vehicle to transport individuals, many of whom have special needs or require assistance, adhering to strict safety protocols and schedule requirements. We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and professional drivers committed to providing exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles (sedans, vans, or wheelchair-accessible vehicles) to transport patients to and from medical appointments.
- Adhere to scheduled pick-up and drop-off times, managing routes efficiently using navigation tools.
- Assist passengers, including those with mobility challenges, in boarding and de-boarding vehicles, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-maintained vehicle, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with passengers, dispatchers, and medical facility staff.
- Accurately complete necessary paperwork and electronic logs for each transport.
- Follow all traffic laws, company policies, and NEMT regulations.
- Respond to unforeseen circumstances or emergencies calmly and effectively, reporting incidents as required.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor.
- Ability to lift and assist passengers (up to 50 lbs) and operate wheelchair securement devices.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety checks.
- Punctual and reliable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in non-emergency medical transportation or a related field.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of Minneapolis area roadways and traffic patterns.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities or special needs.
