Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and experienced Limo Compliance Officer with a strong focus on Safety and Logs to join our team in Torrance, CA. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring Executive Class Transportation adheres to all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to limousine and passenger transportation services, with a particular emphasis on vehicle safety, driver logs, and operational compliance. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, a thorough understanding of transportation laws, and the ability to implement and monitor compliance programs effectively. You will play a critical role in maintaining our impeccable safety record and operational integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety and compliance programs in accordance with DOT, PUC, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Conduct regular audits of driver logs (ELDs and paper logs), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to hours-of-service regulations.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance records, ensuring all inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance are documented and performed according to schedule and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor driver qualification files, including licenses, medical certificates, training records, and background checks, ensuring all documentation is current and compliant.
- Investigate safety incidents, accidents, and violations, reporting findings and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide ongoing training and guidance to chauffeurs and operational staff on safety procedures, regulatory changes, and compliance best practices.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies during audits and inspections, preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Stay abreast of changes in transportation laws and regulations, updating company policies and procedures accordingly.
- Manage drug and alcohol testing programs in compliance with federal regulations.
- Develop and maintain a system for tracking and reporting all compliance-related data and metrics.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation safety or compliance, preferably in the limousine, bus, or trucking industry.
- In-depth knowledge of federal (DOT, FMCSA) and California (PUC) transportation regulations, especially regarding hours-of-service, vehicle maintenance, and driver qualification.
- Proficiency in reviewing and auditing Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) and traditional driver logs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with drivers, management, and regulatory bodies.
- Ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into actionable company policies and training programs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and compliance software.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Transportation Professional (CTP), or similar certifications.
- Experience with fleet management software and telematics systems.
- Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a compliance department.
