Job Description
Join our dynamic team at Academy Sports + Outdoors as an Outdoor & Camping Gear Outfitter. This role is perfect for passionate individuals who love the outdoors and enjoy sharing their expertise with customers. You will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, assisting shoppers in selecting the perfect gear for their adventures, and ensuring a tidy and well-stocked sales floor. Key Responsibilities
- Engage customers with enthusiasm, offering expert advice on outdoor and camping gear.
- Assist customers in selecting products that best meet their needs, explaining features, benefits, and proper usage.
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using POS systems.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor, including merchandising and stock replenishment.
- Stay up-to-date on new product releases, industry trends, and competitor offerings.
- Handle customer inquiries, returns, and complaints professionally and resolve issues to satisfaction.
- Participate in inventory counts and help prevent shrink.
Required Skills
- Strong passion for outdoor activities (camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, etc.).
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic computer proficiency and experience with POS systems.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous retail sales experience, particularly in sporting goods or outdoor equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of various camping, hiking, or fishing gear brands and types.
- Familiarity with inventory management and merchandising practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
