Job Description

We are seeking an innovative and dedicated Surface Chemist with a strong focus on nanotechnology to join our cutting-edge R&D team in North Las Vegas, NV. This role will be integral to developing next-generation materials and processes, utilizing advanced analytical techniques to understand and manipulate surfaces at the nanoscale. The successful candidate will work in a modern, collaborative laboratory environment, contributing to projects that span various applications from advanced materials to life sciences. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments to investigate surface properties and phenomena of various materials, particularly at the nanoscale.
  • Utilize advanced surface characterization techniques (e.g., SEM, TEM, AFM, XPS, FTIR, Raman Spectroscopy) to analyze material composition, structure, and morphology.
  • Develop and optimize surface modification strategies using chemical and physical methods to achieve desired material functionalities.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including materials scientists, engineers, and biologists, to integrate surface chemistry insights into product development.
  • Analyze and interpret complex experimental data, generating comprehensive reports and presentations.
  • Maintain meticulous laboratory records, ensuring data integrity and reproducibility.
  • Contribute to the intellectual property portfolio through invention disclosures and patent applications.
  • Stay abreast of the latest scientific literature and technological advancements in surface chemistry and nanotechnology.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in surface chemistry, colloid science, or nanotechnology.
  • Proficiency in operating and interpreting data from surface analytical instruments (e.g., XPS, SEM, TEM, AFM).
  • Strong understanding of chemical bonding, intermolecular forces, and surface energetics.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-doctoral experience or industry experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience with thin film deposition techniques (e.g., CVD, PVD, ALD).
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical analysis and data visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with materials for biomedical, electronic, or energy applications.
  • Track record of scientific publications and/or patent contributions.
