Job Description
We are seeking highly motivated and physically capable individuals to join our team as Heavy Duty Loaders at our Layton facility. This role is crucial for the efficient movement of goods, involving the loading, unloading, sorting, and scanning of packages. This is a demanding position that requires significant physical exertion, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety. Key Responsibilities
- Manually load and unload freight, packages, and other materials into and out of trailers, containers, and company vehicles.
- Sort and stage packages efficiently for delivery or further transport, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
- Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks (training provided if needed).
- Scan packages accurately using handheld devices and update inventory systems.
- Perform pre-shift and post-shift equipment checks as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet daily operational goals.
- Handle heavy packages, frequently lifting and carrying items weighing up to 70 lbs (32 kg) and maneuvering heavier items with assistance or equipment.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy objects regularly, up to 70 lbs (32 kg).
- Strong physical stamina and endurance for repetitive tasks and prolonged standing/walking.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety procedures and a safe working environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to read labels and count packages.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or physically demanding role.
- Experience operating material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts) – certification a plus.
