Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Specialized Glass Hauler to join our dedicated team in Riverside, CA. This crucial role involves the safe and precise transportation of various glass products, ranging from large architectural panels to delicate custom pieces. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of specialized hauling techniques, load securement, and a commitment to maintaining the integrity of high-value, fragile cargo. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport diverse glass products, including architectural glass, automotive glass, and specialized custom pieces.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and specialized trailers, ensuring all equipment is in optimal working condition.
- Expertly load, secure, and unload glass using appropriate handling equipment and techniques to prevent damage.
- Adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate driving logs, delivery records, and complete necessary paperwork.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery schedules and potential issues.
- Operate vehicles and equipment in a safe and responsible manner, always prioritizing cargo integrity and road safety.
- Represent XPO Logistics professionally at all times during transit and delivery.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable commercial driving experience, with at least 1 year in specialized or fragile freight hauling.
- Proven experience with flatbed trailers and proper load securement techniques for glass.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and securing loads in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with curtain-side trailers or specialized glass rack systems.
- HAZMAT endorsement (preferred, but not required).
- Certification in advanced load securement techniques.
- Familiarity with local and regional routes in Southern California.
