Job Description
CRST International is seeking a meticulous and organized Cellar Storage Planner with a strong focus on racks and bins management to join our team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This integral role involves optimizing the layout, organization, and utilization of our storage facilities, ensuring efficient material flow and maximum capacity. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in warehouse planning, inventory management, and a keen eye for detail in designing and implementing effective storage solutions. You will be responsible for strategizing optimal placement of goods, managing rack and bin systems, and contributing to the overall efficiency of our logistics operations. This is an on-site position requiring local presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, optimize, and manage storage layouts within various cellar and warehouse environments, with a specific focus on racks and bins systems.
- Develop and implement strategies for efficient space utilization, material flow, and inventory accessibility.
- Conduct regular audits of storage areas to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with inventory management and operations teams to forecast storage needs and plan for future capacity.
- Evaluate and recommend new racking, shelving, and bin solutions to enhance storage capabilities.
- Maintain accurate documentation of storage plans, layouts, and inventory locations.
- Identify and resolve storage-related bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
- Train staff on best practices for storage and retrieval processes.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in warehouse or logistics planning.
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using CAD software or similar layout design tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of various racking systems (e.g., selective, push-back, drive-in) and bin storage solutions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Prior experience in a transportation or large-scale distribution environment.
