Job Description
Join Conservation Colorado as a Policy Outreach Coordinator! This junior-level position is perfect for an enthusiastic and driven individual eager to make an impact on environmental policy and community engagement. You will play a crucial role in building relationships with community members, stakeholders, and policymakers across Colorado, specifically focusing on the Greeley region and surrounding areas. This role involves significant travel within the state to facilitate discussions, gather feedback, and advocate for our policy priorities. Key Responsibilities
- Engage with community members, local leaders, and stakeholders to educate them on Conservation Colorado's policy priorities and initiatives.
- Conduct regular outreach activities, including door-to-door canvassing, community meetings, presentations, and events in the Greeley area and beyond.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with diverse groups, fostering a broad base of support for environmental policies.
- Gather qualitative and quantitative feedback from the community to inform policy development and advocacy strategies.
- Support the organization of grassroots campaigns and advocacy efforts, mobilizing public support for key environmental legislation.
- Prepare concise reports on outreach activities, community engagement, and progress towards goals.
- Represent Conservation Colorado professionally at public forums, coalition meetings, and other events.
Required Skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Demonstrated passion for environmental protection and policy advocacy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency in basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for frequent travel across Colorado.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Political Science, Communications, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Previous experience (paid or volunteer) in community organizing, public outreach, or advocacy.
- Familiarity with environmental issues specific to Colorado and the Rocky Mountain West.
- Bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish) is a significant plus.
