Job Description
Join the dedicated team at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) as a University Shuttle Driver. This campus-based, full-time position offers stable hours and plays a crucial role in the daily operation of our vibrant university, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of students, faculty, and staff across campus routes. You will be an integral part of the campus community, providing essential services and contributing to a positive experience for everyone at UTSA.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate university shuttle buses safely and punctually on designated routes.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, university policies, and safety regulations.
- Assist passengers, including those with disabilities, with boarding and deboarding as needed.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any mechanical issues or damage immediately.
- Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle interior.
- Provide excellent customer service to all passengers, answering questions and providing directions as appropriate.
- Manage passenger behavior to ensure a safe and respectful environment.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding route status, delays, or incidents.
- Complete daily logs and incident reports accurately.
Required Skills
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger endorsement (P endorsement).
- Clean driving record for the past 3 years.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and ongoing random drug/alcohol testing.
- Excellent knowledge of traffic laws and safety procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work stable, assigned shifts, including some evenings or weekends as required by campus events.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience as a bus driver, shuttle driver, or in a similar public transportation role.
- Familiarity with the UTSA campus and surrounding San Antonio area.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
