Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Music Theory Teacher to join our growing network of online instructors. This is a remote contract position with flexible hours, allowing you to set your own schedule and teach from anywhere. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive music theory lessons to students of all ages and skill levels, from beginners understanding basic concepts to advanced learners delving into harmony, counterpoint, and analysis. If you have a deep understanding of music theory and a talent for explaining complex ideas clearly and enthusiastically, we encourage you to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging, personalized online music theory lessons via video conferencing.
- Assess student needs and tailor curriculum to individual learning styles and goals.
- Provide constructive feedback and track student progress effectively.
- Maintain a professional and inspiring online learning environment.
- Communicate regularly with students and parents (where applicable) regarding progress and scheduling.
- Stay updated on best practices in online music education and music theory pedagogy.
- Manage your own teaching schedule and student load.
Required Skills
- Expert-level knowledge of music theory (harmony, counterpoint, form, analysis, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to teach music theory concepts clearly and effectively to diverse age groups and skill levels.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with online teaching platforms and video conferencing tools.
- Reliable internet connection and suitable environment for remote teaching.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Theory, Music Education, Composition, or a related field.
- Prior experience teaching music theory in an online setting.
- Experience with various music notation software (e.g., Sibelius, Finale, MuseScore).
- Ability to teach multiple instruments or music subjects.
- Familiarity with diverse musical genres and pedagogical approaches.
