Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Pipeline Surveyor to join our field operations team in Houston, TX. This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate mapping, monitoring, and maintenance of our extensive pipeline network. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting field surveys, collecting precise data, and collaborating with engineering and construction teams to support pipeline projects and integrity management. This is a field-based position, and a company vehicle will be provided for all work-related travel. Key Responsibilities
- Perform accurate pipeline surveys using GPS, total station, and other relevant surveying equipment.
- Collect, process, and interpret survey data for mapping and asset management purposes.
- Conduct as-built surveys for new pipeline construction and modifications.
- Locate and mark existing pipelines, rights-of-way, and other underground utilities.
- Assist in the preparation of survey reports, plats, and detailed drawings.
- Ensure all surveying activities comply with company standards, safety regulations, and federal/state requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, construction crews, and land agents.
- Operate and maintain survey equipment, ensuring calibration and proper functionality.
- Respond to emergency call-outs for pipeline locating or damage assessment.
- Provide technical support and guidance on survey-related matters to various internal departments.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in pipeline surveying or related land surveying field.
- Proficiency with GPS, Total Station, and other surveying instruments.
- Strong understanding of surveying principles, techniques, and data collection methods.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, alignment sheets, and legal descriptions.
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) for data processing and mapping.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently in various outdoor weather conditions and travel extensively in the field.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or Surveyor-in-Training (SIT) certification in Texas.
- Experience with pipeline integrity management systems and regulatory compliance.
- Knowledge of NACE standards related to cathodic protection surveys.
- Familiarity with drones/UAVs for aerial surveying and data capture.
