Job Description

We are seeking enthusiastic and adaptable Substitute Music Teachers to join our pool of dedicated educators across various schools within the Denver Public Schools district. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective music instruction to students across various grade levels, following established curriculum plans.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and student well-being.
  • Implement classroom management strategies to ensure a safe and productive learning experience.
  • Follow the lesson plans and instructions left by the absent teacher, adapting as necessary.
  • Supervise students in various settings including the classroom, hallways, and during school activities.
  • Communicate effectively with school staff, administrators, and students.
  • Ensure the safety and security of students at all times.

Required Skills

  • Valid Colorado Teaching License or Substitute Authorization with a Music endorsement (or ability to obtain one).
  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field.
  • Proficiency in various musical instruments and vocal techniques.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different school environments and student needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience teaching music in a K-12 setting.
  • Familiarity with DPS curriculum and school policies.
  • Ability to teach a diverse range of musical styles and genres.
  • Experience with music technology and software.
