Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Tow Truck Operator to join our team in New Port Richey, Florida. This role is crucial to our roadside assistance operations, providing timely and efficient towing and recovery services to our customers 24/7. You will be responsible for safely operating tow trucks, assisting stranded motorists, recovering disabled vehicles, and ensuring exceptional customer service. This position offers a competitive compensation structure including a base salary plus commission, reflecting the critical nature and demanding schedule of the role. Key Responsibilities
- Operate tow trucks safely and efficiently to transport disabled vehicles to designated locations.
- Provide roadside assistance services including tire changes, jump-starts, fuel delivery, and lockout services.
- Respond to service calls in a timely manner, adhering to a 24/7 rotating roster, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Assess vehicle damage and determine appropriate towing and recovery methods.
- Secure vehicles for transport, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of all service calls, vehicle information, and billing details.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tow trucks and equipment.
- Interact professionally and courteously with customers, often in stressful situations.
- Ensure the cleanliness and proper functioning of assigned tow trucks and equipment.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal traffic laws and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of professional tow truck operating experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Familiarity with various types of tow trucks and recovery equipment (e.g., wheel lift, flatbed, rotator).
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and perform strenuous tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- WreckMaster or similar towing and recovery certification.
- ASE certification (Automotive Service Excellence).
- Experience with vehicle recovery in complex situations.
- Knowledge of local geography and road networks in the New Port Richey area.
