Job Description
Join FedEx Freight as a dedicated Flatbed Driver. This role involves transporting critical freight, primarily requiring the secure tarping of loads, ensuring safe and timely delivery. You will be responsible for operating commercial motor vehicles, conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and maintaining accurate logs, all while adhering to federal and state regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Operate flatbed trailers safely and efficiently to transport freight.
- Secure loads properly, including proficient tarping of various cargo types, to prevent damage or shifting during transit.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, documenting any defects.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery receipts, and other essential paperwork.
- Adhere to all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company safety policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules and commitments.
- Represent FedEx Freight professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL A).
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable flatbed driving experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in tarping diverse loads securely.
- Clean driving record (MVR).
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Physical ability to tarp and secure loads in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hazmat endorsement.
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Previous experience with FedEx Freight or similar LTL carriers.
- Strong customer service orientation.
