Job Description
We are seeking a meticulous and focused WFH Cataloguer to join our Digital Libraries team. This role is ideal for an individual who thrives in a quiet, independent work environment and possesses exceptional attention to detail. As a Digital Libraries Cataloguer, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining metadata for a wide array of digital resources, ensuring discoverability and accessibility for researchers and learners globally. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to our mission from the comfort of your home.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform original and copy cataloguing of digital resources (eBooks, journals, archives, multimedia) using MARC 21, RDA, and other relevant cataloguing standards.
- Create and maintain accurate metadata records, ensuring consistency and adherence to internal and industry best practices.
- Utilize various cataloguing tools and integrated library systems (ILS) to process and manage digital collections.
- Conduct quality control checks on existing catalogue records and implement necessary corrections.
- Collaborate with content acquisition, editorial, and technology teams to ensure seamless integration of new resources.
- Stay informed about current trends and developments in library cataloguing, metadata management, and digital libraries.
- Participate in special projects related to digital collection enhancement and data migration.
- Adhere to strict deadlines and productivity targets in a remote work setting.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in MARC 21 and RDA cataloguing standards.
- Strong understanding of metadata schemas (e.g., Dublin Core, MODS, ONIX).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with library management systems or cataloguing software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent degree.
- Experience with authority control and linked data principles.
- Familiarity with various subject classification schemes (e.g., LC, DDC).
- Experience cataloguing non-textual digital formats (audio, video, images).
- Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
