Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Multiplayer Network Tester with a keen focus on server stability to join our remote quality assurance team. This critical role involves rigorously testing our multiplayer games to identify, reproduce, and report network-related bugs, performance issues, and server stability concerns. You will work closely with development teams to ensure a seamless, low-latency, and robust online experience for our global player base. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to contribute from anywhere in the specified region.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive test plans for multiplayer game features, focusing on network performance, server stability, and data synchronization.
- Identify, document, and track bugs related to latency, packet loss, desynchronization, server crashes, and other network-specific issues using bug tracking software.
- Perform extensive load and stress testing on game servers to evaluate their resilience and performance under various conditions.
- Collaborate directly with network engineers and game developers to troubleshoot and diagnose complex server-side problems.
- Provide detailed, actionable feedback on network infrastructure, game client-server interactions, and overall online user experience.
- Develop and maintain test cases, scenarios, and test data for network testing initiatives.
- Stay current with industry best practices in network testing, game development, and online multiplayer technologies.
- Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and other agile development ceremonies.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience in Quality Assurance for multiplayer video games, with a strong focus on network and server stability testing.
- Proficiency with bug tracking systems (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla) and test case management tools.
- Solid understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP) and common network topologies.
- Experience with network diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, Fiddler, network monitors).
- Ability to analyze log files and performance metrics to identify potential issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting bugs and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and capable of working effectively in a remote team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related field.
- Experience with cloud gaming platforms or large-scale distributed systems.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for test automation.
- Knowledge of various game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and their networking features.
- Experience testing on multiple platforms (PC, console, mobile).
