Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and organised Post Room Operative to join our office logistics team in Colchester. This is a crucial role responsible for the efficient management of incoming and outgoing mail, parcels, and internal deliveries, ensuring the smooth operation of our busy corporate environment. The successful candidate will be a proactive team player with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to providing high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities
- Sorting, distributing, and collecting internal and external mail and parcels.
- Operating mailroom equipment, including franking machines, scanners, and mail sorters.
- Managing courier services, preparing shipments, and tracking deliveries.
- Maintaining accurate records of all incoming and outgoing items.
- Assisting with office moves and furniture reconfigurations as required.
- Ensuring the post room is kept tidy, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Providing general office support, including stationery management and supplies distribution.
- Handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Responding to internal queries regarding mail and logistics services.
- Liaising with external suppliers and contractors as needed.
Required Skills
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 20kg.
- Basic IT proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and highly motivated.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a post room, mailroom, or office services role.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to an office environment.
- A valid UK driving license.
