Job Description
We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated Historical Document Tagger to join our Digital Archive Project team in Reading. This vital role involves accurately classifying, indexing, and tagging a diverse range of historical documents to facilitate their digitisation and integration into our comprehensive digital archive system. You will play a crucial part in preserving valuable historical data, making it accessible for research, education, and public access. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, a methodical approach, and a passion for history and digital preservation.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately review and categorise historical documents according to predefined taxonomies and guidelines.
- Apply appropriate metadata tags to digitised content, ensuring consistency and searchability.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of existing document tags and metadata.
- Collaborate with archivists and project managers to understand document context and tagging requirements.
- Identify and report any discrepancies, anomalies, or issues encountered with documents or the tagging system.
- Maintain strict adherence to data entry standards, quality control procedures, and project timelines.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of tagging workflows and digital archiving processes.
