Job Description
This is a unique and exciting opportunity for current FedEx employees to transition into a vital role within our expansive logistics network. As a Feeder Driver Associate, you will be enrolled in a comprehensive, paid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training program designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to operate tractor-trailers safely and efficiently. Upon successful completion of the CDL program and obtaining your CDL-A, you will join our team of professional Feeder Drivers, responsible for transporting packages between FedEx Ground hubs and terminals. This role demands a strong commitment to safety, strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and a dedication to timely and reliable delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Attend and actively participate in the company's paid CDL training program, committing to learn all aspects of commercial driving.
- Learn and master the safe operation of Class A commercial motor vehicles, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Transport freight safely and efficiently between FedEx Ground facilities following established routes and schedules.
- Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company policies, and safety protocols at all times.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs and complete all required documentation promptly and accurately.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, operations teams, and other personnel regarding route status, delays, or issues.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues immediately.
Required Skills
- Must be a current employee of FedEx (essential for this specific job title).
- Possess a valid state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record for at least the past three years.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and a pre-employment drug screen.
- Strong commitment to safety and strict adherence to all traffic laws and company regulations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs dictate.
- Basic communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a warehouse, package handling, or logistics environment.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude or experience with vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including lifting and maneuvering equipment.
