Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Lift Forklift Driver to join our industrial site team in New Port Richey, FL. This vital role involves operating heavy-capacity forklifts to move, load, and unload large and complex materials and equipment within our industrial facilities and project sites. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient and safe flow of materials, supporting various construction and service operations. You will be expected to adhere strictly to all safety protocols and contribute to a productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy lift forklifts (e.g., 10,000+ lbs capacity) safely and efficiently to transport materials, equipment, and components.
- Perform daily pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance checks on forklifts to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Load and unload heavy materials from trucks, trailers, and storage racks using appropriate lifting techniques and attachments.
- Accurately stage and organize materials in designated areas, optimizing space and accessibility for ongoing projects.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations for forklift operation and material handling.
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors, team members, and other personnel regarding material movement and project needs.
- Identify and report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or discrepancies in material inventory.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, contributing to overall site safety and efficiency.
Required Skills
- Proven experience operating heavy lift forklifts in an industrial, construction, or manufacturing environment.
- Valid forklift operator certification for heavy capacity equipment.
- Strong understanding of load capacities, stability, and safe rigging practices.
- Excellent spatial awareness and coordination.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, safety manuals, and equipment specifications.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all operational procedures.
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks and work in various weather conditions common to industrial sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience with specific heavy forklift brands such as Caterpillar, Hyster, or Kalmar.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor equipment adjustments or troubleshooting.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
