Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Home Infusion Pharmacy Technician to join our specialized clinical team. In this role, you will be instrumental in preparing, compounding, and dispensing sterile and non-sterile medications for patients receiving home infusion therapy. This specialized position requires strong technical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to patient safety and quality care. You will collaborate closely with pharmacists and nurses to ensure accurate and timely delivery of critical therapies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and compound sterile and non-sterile intravenous medications, including antibiotics, TPN, pain management, and other specialized therapies, under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Maintain strict adherence to USP <797> and USP <800> guidelines for sterile compounding and hazardous drug handling.
  • Accurately measure, label, and package medications, ensuring all prescriptions are complete and verified prior to dispensing.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating pharmaceutical supplies and equipment.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on prepared medications and compounding equipment.
  • Assist pharmacists with patient profiles, insurance verification, and coordination of care.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following all safety and compliance protocols.
  • Document all activities accurately and completely in patient records and pharmacy systems.

Required Skills

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification.
  • Active Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Florida.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a pharmacy setting, preferably in sterile compounding or hospital/infusion pharmacy.
  • Proficiency in calculating dosages and volumes accurately.
  • Strong understanding of aseptic technique and cleanroom procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with pharmacy management software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience specifically in home infusion pharmacy.
  • Knowledge of USP <797> and USP <800> regulations.
  • Experience with CADD pumps or similar infusion devices.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
