Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quantitative Chemist with a strong focus on Data Analytics to join our innovative R&D team. This role is pivotal in driving the interpretation and application of complex chemical data to advance our material science and analytical solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of chemical principles combined with robust data analytical skills, including statistical modeling, machine learning, and data visualization. You will work on cutting-edge projects, transforming raw experimental data into actionable insights that inform product development and scientific discovery. This is a 100% remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to collaborate with a global team of experts from anywhere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement advanced data analysis strategies for various chemical datasets, including spectroscopic, chromatographic, and material characterization data.
  • Develop and apply statistical models and machine learning algorithms to identify patterns, correlations, and predictive insights from experimental results.
  • Collaborate with R&D chemists and engineers to understand experimental objectives and data generation processes.
  • Create comprehensive data visualization tools and dashboards to present complex analytical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the design of experiments (DoE) by providing data-driven recommendations for optimal experimental parameters.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and adherence to quality standards throughout the analysis pipeline.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in quantitative chemistry, data analytics, and artificial intelligence relevant to scientific applications.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and scientific publications summarizing research findings.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field with a strong emphasis on quantitative analysis and data science.
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, Python with NumPy/SciPy/Pandas/Scikit-learn) and data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau).
  • Demonstrated experience with multivariate data analysis (PCA, PLS), chemometrics, and machine learning techniques.
  • Strong understanding of analytical chemistry techniques (e.g., GC-MS, LC-MS, NMR, FTIR, Raman, XRF, XRD) and their associated data formats.
  • Experience with large datasets and database management (SQL).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret complex scientific data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postdoctoral experience in an industrial or academic setting focused on data-intensive chemical research.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for data storage and processing.
  • Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or electronic lab notebooks (ELN).
  • Knowledge of programming languages beyond R/Python, such as Java or C++.
  • Track record of scientific publications and presentations in relevant fields.
