Job Description

Are you a passionate storyteller with a knack for public speaking and a deep love for dinosaurs? The Denver Museum of Nature & Science is seeking an enthusiastic Dinosaur Museum Educator to bring the ancient world to life for visitors of all ages. In this role, you will be the voice of our prehistoric past, leading engaging tours, delivering captivating presentations, and facilitating hands-on activities focused on dinosaurs and paleontology. We’re looking for someone who can command an an audience, convey complex scientific concepts accessibly, and inspire a sense of wonder in every guest. While prior museum education experience is a plus, we welcome candidates with strong public speaking skills and a genuine desire to learn and share their knowledge. Comprehensive training and ongoing support will be provided to help you become an expert in our dinosaur exhibits and educational methodologies. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging, factually accurate presentations and tours on dinosaur-related topics for diverse audiences, including school groups, families, and general visitors.
  • Facilitate interactive educational programs and hands-on activities that enhance understanding of paleontology, fossilization, and prehistoric ecosystems.
  • Act as a primary interpreter for dinosaur exhibits, answering visitor questions and providing insights into scientific research and discoveries.
  • Collaborate with the education team to refine existing programs and contribute to the development of new educational content.
  • Ensure the safety and positive experience of all program participants.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with paleontological research and best educational practices.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to captivate and educate diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated passion for dinosaurs, paleontology, and natural history.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings as required by museum programming.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Biology, Geology, Paleontology, Museum Studies, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in informal education, museum interpretation, or public outreach.
  • Knowledge of various educational methodologies and audience engagement strategies.
  • Proficiency in a second language is a plus.
