Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Commercial Awning Installer (Mate) to join our dynamic construction support team. This entry-level to mid-level position is ideal for individuals eager to learn the trade, work hands-on, and contribute to the installation of various commercial awning systems. You will work closely with experienced installers, assisting with all aspects of the installation process from preparation to final assembly, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. This role offers excellent opportunities for growth and skill development within the commercial awning industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead installers with the safe and efficient installation of commercial awnings and related structures.
  • Prepare job sites, including unloading materials, setting up scaffolding/ladders, and ensuring a clean work environment.
  • Measure, cut, and fit various materials under supervision.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Provide excellent customer service on-site, maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Learn and master installation techniques and product knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of construction principles or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work at heights (on ladders, scaffolding).
  • Proficient with basic hand and power tools.
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean abstract.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in construction, general labour, or outdoor installation.
  • Certification in Fall Protection or Aerial Work Platform (AWP) an asset.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
