Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operating Room (OR) Nurse with a strong focus on surgical suite operations to join our dynamic team in Wesley Chapel, FL. Key Responsibilities
- Assess patient status prior to surgery, ensuring all necessary documentation and preparations are complete.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
- Prepare the operating room with necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies according to surgical case requirements.
- Maintain a sterile field and ensure adherence to aseptic techniques throughout the surgical procedure.
- Monitor patient vital signs, level of consciousness, and physiological responses during surgery.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and supplies.
- Document all aspects of nursing care accurately and thoroughly, including medication administration and patient responses.
- Provide post-operative care and ensure a smooth transition for patients to recovery.
- Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and recovery expectations.
- Participate in daily huddles and surgical briefings to optimize team coordination and patient flow.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
Required Skills
- Current RN license in the State of Florida
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Operating Room Nurse
- Demonstrated knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- CNOR (Certified Perioperative Nurse) certification
- Experience with robotic-assisted surgery or specialty-specific procedures
- Previous experience in a large hospital system or academic medical center
