Job Description
Join Aramark’s dynamic culinary team as a Part-time Catering Prep specialist for major weekend events in Detroit. This role is perfect for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess a strong work ethic, and are eager to contribute to large-scale catering operations. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient preparation of food items, supporting our chefs and culinary staff in delivering outstanding service during high-profile events.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist culinary team with all aspects of food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
- Ensure all food items are prepared according to recipes, quality standards, and safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment throughout all shifts.
- Safely operate and clean kitchen equipment, including slicers, mixers, and other tools.
- Properly store food items and ingredients, adhering to FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles.
- Support inventory management by assisting with receiving and stocking deliveries.
- Collaborate effectively with chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff to meet event timelines.
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations (HACCP) at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by kitchen management.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Basic knife skills and familiarity with standard kitchen equipment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Reliability and punctuality, especially for weekend shifts.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a catering, restaurant, or high-volume kitchen setting.
- Knowledge of basic food safety principles and practices.
- Current Food Handler's Permit or willingness to obtain one upon hire.
