Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Analytical Laboratory Supervisor to lead our dynamic team in Morgantown, West Virginia. This critical role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our analytical laboratory, ensuring the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and compliance. The successful candidate will manage a team of skilled analytical chemists, providing technical guidance, training, and performance feedback. You will be instrumental in method development, validation, and transfer, supporting product development and manufacturing processes for our diverse pharmaceutical portfolio. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor a team of analytical chemists and technicians, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and reporting of analytical tests for raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and stability studies.
  • Ensure all laboratory operations adhere to cGMP, GLP, and other relevant regulatory guidelines (e.g., FDA, ICH).
  • Develop, validate, and transfer analytical methods using a variety of techniques (HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, etc.).
  • Manage laboratory instrumentation, including calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and qualification.
  • Review and approve analytical data, reports, and documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Lead investigations into out-of-specification (OOS) and out-of-trend (OOT) results, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes, safety protocols, and quality systems.
  • Manage laboratory budget, resource allocation, and project timelines effectively.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for regulatory audits and inspections.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • At least 6 years of experience in an analytical laboratory setting within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory or team lead role.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, dissolution, and Karl Fischer.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of cGMP, GLP, and ICH guidelines.
  • Proven ability to develop, validate, and transfer analytical methods.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Experience with stability testing programs and regulatory submissions.
  • Familiarity with LEAN or Six Sigma methodologies in a laboratory environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Experience in cross-functional project teams.
