Job Description

We are seeking a highly reliable and efficient Blood Bank Porter to join our vital team in Blackburn. This urgent vacancy requires a dedicated individual to ensure the critical and timely delivery of blood products and samples within the hospital environment. Your role will be paramount in supporting patient care by ensuring essential blood components reach their destination safely and without delay. This is a fast-paced role requiring excellent organizational skills and a strong commitment to patient safety and critical service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport blood products, samples, and related materials between the blood bank, wards, operating theatres, and other departments with urgency and care.
  • Adhere strictly to all blood product handling protocols, including temperature control and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of all deliveries and collections, ensuring full traceability.
  • Communicate effectively with blood bank staff, nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Operate and maintain specialized transport equipment as required.
  • Respond promptly to urgent requests for blood product deliveries.
  • Ensure the safe and secure handling of sensitive medical materials.
  • Contribute to a clean and safe working environment.
