Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Brass Teacher specializing in Trumpet and Trombone to join our faculty for weekend instruction. This part-time position is perfect for an experienced musician and educator looking to share their expertise and inspire the next generation of brass players. You will be responsible for providing engaging and effective private and small group lessons, preparing students for recitals, examinations, and general musical enjoyment. The ideal candidate will have a strong performance background and proven teaching experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality private and small group instruction in trumpet and trombone to students of varying ages and skill levels on weekends.
  • Develop customized lesson plans that cater to individual student needs and learning styles.
  • Prepare students for recitals, auditions, examinations, and other performance opportunities.
  • Introduce students to music theory, history, and a diverse repertoire suitable for brass instruments.
  • Foster a positive, encouraging, and disciplined learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding progress and upcoming events.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and school events as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in playing trumpet and trombone.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach brass instruments effectively to diverse age groups.
  • Strong pedagogical skills and knowledge of brass teaching methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliability and professionalism, especially for weekend scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field.
  • Previous experience teaching in a music school or similar institutional setting.
  • Knowledge of various brass teaching methods (e.g., Suzuki, traditional).
  • Experience preparing students for RCM or similar examination systems.
