Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and hardworking Cabbage Field Hands to join our team for the essential Winter Harvest season. This is a crucial role responsible for the manual harvesting, sorting, and packing of cabbages in varying weather conditions. The successful candidates will be an integral part of our agricultural operations, ensuring the quality and efficiency of our winter produce. We offer a high shift allowance to compensate for the demanding nature of this seasonal work. This is a physically demanding role requiring resilience and a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities
- Manually harvest cabbage crops with precision and care, following established quality standards.
- Sort and grade harvested cabbages according to size, quality, and specific customer requirements.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of harvested produce into crates or trailers.
- Operate basic farm equipment and tools safely and effectively under supervision.
- Work efficiently as part of a team to meet daily harvest targets and deadlines.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations on the farm.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment in the field and packing areas.
- Be prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions typical of a British winter.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform repetitive tasks, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to work effectively and safely in an outdoor agricultural environment, enduring cold, wet, or windy conditions.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure product quality and accurate sorting.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a diverse team.
- Basic communication skills to understand instructions and report any issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in agricultural harvesting or similar manual labour roles.
