Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Car Dealership Evaluator with a strong focus on professional service to join our team in the bustling Galleria Area of Houston. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for meticulously evaluating vehicle conditions, assessing market value, and providing expert appraisals for trade-ins and inventory acquisition. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a solid understanding of automotive mechanics and market trends, and excellent communication skills to articulate evaluations to both customers and internal teams. A significant bonus structure is in place for successful evaluations and contributions to our inventory pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of incoming vehicles (trade-ins, auctions, etc.) to determine their mechanical, cosmetic, and structural condition.
  • Utilize market data, industry tools, and personal expertise to accurately appraise vehicles and determine competitive market value.
  • Prepare detailed evaluation reports, including estimated repair costs and reconditioning needs.
  • Communicate appraisal results clearly and professionally to customers, explaining the valuation process and factors considered.
  • Collaborate with sales, service, and purchasing departments to optimize inventory acquisition and pricing strategies.
  • Stay current with automotive market trends, pricing fluctuations, and industry best practices.
  • Ensure all evaluations comply with company policies and legal regulations.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in automotive appraisal, vehicle inspection, or a related field within a dealership or independent appraisal setting.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanics, bodywork, and automotive systems.
  • Proficiency in using appraisal software and market valuation tools (e.g., Kelley Blue Book, NADA, Manheim Market Report).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASE certification (Automotive Service Excellence) or equivalent technical certifications.
  • Experience with luxury or specialty vehicle evaluations.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.
