Job Description
As a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) at Walgreens, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting the efficient operation of our pharmacy. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately and efficiently process prescription orders, including data entry, insurance claim processing, and packaging medications.
- Assist pharmacists with the preparation and dispensing of prescription medications, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating medications, and identifying expired products.
- Provide excellent customer service, answering patient questions, handling telephone inquiries, and assisting with front-end sales.
- Maintain patient profiles and ensure confidentiality of all patient health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Operate pharmacy systems and equipment, including point-of-sale (POS) terminals and automated dispensing machines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment, adhering to all company policies and procedures.
- Support pharmacist in providing immunizations and other clinical services as permitted by state law and technician scope of practice.
- Resolve patient issues and escalate complex matters to the pharmacist as needed.
Required Skills
- Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification (PTCB or NHA).
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current Pharmacy Technician registration/licensure in Colorado (if applicable).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail setting.
- Proficiency in pharmacy operating systems and point-of-sale software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, drug names, and pharmacy calculations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Walgreens pharmacy systems (e.g., Intercom Plus).
- Associate's degree or higher in a related field.
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish).
- Experience with sterile compounding or IV admixture preparation.
- Previous experience in a high-volume retail pharmacy.
