Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chemistry Project Lead to join our innovative Pharmaceutical Development team in Boulder, Colorado. This pivotal role will drive the scientific and technical direction of complex chemistry projects within our drug discovery and development pipeline, focusing on the synthesis, characterization, and process optimization of novel therapeutic candidates. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader, adept at navigating intricate scientific challenges, mentoring cross-functional teams, and ensuring the timely delivery of critical project milestones in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, planning, and execution of complex synthetic chemistry projects from target validation through process development.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure successful delivery of project goals.
- Provide expert scientific guidance and strategic input to multi-disciplinary teams including medicinal chemistry, analytical chemistry, process chemistry, and regulatory affairs.
- Oversee the development and optimization of synthetic routes for novel small molecule drug candidates.
- Interpret and present complex data to internal stakeholders and senior management.
- Mentor junior scientists and foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, GxP guidelines, and company policies.
- Drive innovation by evaluating and implementing new technologies and methodologies in synthetic chemistry.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D, with a strong focus on small molecule synthesis and process development.
- Proven track record of successfully leading complex chemistry projects from conception to completion.
- Deep expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, reaction mechanism, and retrosynthetic analysis.
- Strong understanding of analytical techniques (NMR, MS, HPLC) for compound characterization.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities and strategic thinking.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postdoctoral experience in a relevant field.
- Experience with cGMP regulations and regulatory submissions.
- Familiarity with computational chemistry tools and techniques.
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific conferences.
- Experience in managing external collaborations with CROs or academic institutions.
