Job Description

Are you a compassionate and reliable individual with a passion for helping seniors thrive? Home Instead in New Port Richey is seeking dedicated Companion Care Specialists to join our team. This role is perfect for those who enjoy making a tangible difference in someone’s daily life, offering companionship, and providing essential support. As a Companion Care Specialist, you will primarily focus on non-medical care, fostering a positive and engaging environment for our clients. We value individuals who are proactive, empathetic, and possess a strong desire to enrich the lives of others through personalized care. Travel between client homes in the Pasco County area is a core component of this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engaging companionship and emotional support to clients.
  • Assist clients with light housekeeping tasks, including laundry, meal preparation, and tidying up.
  • Run errands and assist with grocery shopping.
  • Accompany clients to appointments and social outings.
  • Remind clients to take medications and stay hydrated.
  • Engage clients in stimulating activities such as games, hobbies, and conversations.
  • Monitor client well-being and report any changes or concerns to the agency.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for clients.
  • Document services provided and client observations accurately.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, ensuring client safety and satisfaction.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Proof of auto insurance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and compassion.
  • Ability to perform light physical tasks and assist with mobility if needed.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a caregiving, home health, or related field (personal experience with family counts!).
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) program.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills for documentation.
