Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join our dynamic surgical team at Huntsville Hospital System. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-anesthetic assessments and evaluations of patients.
  • Formulate and implement an anesthesia care plan for assigned patients.
  • Administer various types of anesthesia, including general, regional, and local, under the supervision of an Anesthesiologist or independently, depending on state regulations and hospital policy.
  • Monitor patients during anesthesia, adjusting anesthetic agents as necessary to maintain physiological stability.
  • Manage airways, administer medications, and provide advanced life support as needed.
  • Provide post-anesthesia care, including patient recovery and pain management.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough patient records and documentation.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and continuing education.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

Required Skills

  • Current CRNA certification by NBCRNA.
  • Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program.
  • Active, unencumbered RN license in the State of Alabama (or eligible for licensure).
  • Active, unencumbered CRNA license in the State of Alabama (or eligible for licensure).
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in administering all types of anesthesia.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a practicing CRNA, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Experience with a variety of surgical specialties, including cardiac, neuro, trauma, and pediatrics.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
