Job Description
Are you a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse seeking an extraordinary career opportunity? Carnival Cruise Line invites you to join our onboard medical team as a Cruise Ship Nurse. This unique role offers the chance to provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic, international environment while traveling the world. You will be an integral part of our ship’s medical center, ensuring the health and safety of both guests and crew members. This position includes international travel, with room and board provided, allowing you to focus on your vital work and explore new horizons.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to guests and crew members, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Respond to medical emergencies throughout the ship, including participation in rapid response and code teams.
- Administer medications, perform minor procedures, and assist physicians in various medical treatments.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records and documentation in compliance with company policies and international regulations.
- Assist with health screenings, vaccinations, and public health initiatives on board.
- Ensure the cleanliness, organization, and proper functioning of the medical center and equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with the ship's medical team (physicians, other nurses) and other departments.
- Adhere to all relevant maritime health regulations and company protocols.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of post-registration clinical experience in an acute care setting (e.g., Emergency Room, Intensive Care, Acute Medical/Surgical Ward).
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and emergency response skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Ability to work long hours, irregular shifts, and be on-call as required.
- Adaptability, resilience, and a positive attitude.
- Valid passport with sufficient validity for international travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working on a cruise ship or in a remote healthcare setting.
- Experience in trauma care, urgent care, or primary care.
- Additional certifications such as Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Proficiency in additional languages (e.g., Spanish, French, German).
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
