Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and physically fit Hospital Porter to join our dedicated team in Canterbury. This crucial role involves ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies throughout the hospital, directly contributing to patient care and operational efficiency. You will work a stable 4 On, 4 Off shift pattern, providing a consistent work-life balance and a secure income. Key Responsibilities

  • Transport patients safely and comfortably between wards, departments, and clinics, using appropriate equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, trolleys).
  • Move medical equipment, furniture, and supplies around the hospital as required.
  • Deliver and collect specimens, patient notes, blood products, and pharmacy items.
  • Handle and transport clinical waste, linen, and postal deliveries according to strict health and safety guidelines.
  • Assist with the transfer of deceased patients to the mortuary, acting with dignity and respect.
  • Respond promptly to requests for portering services via radio or internal communication systems.
  • Ensure all equipment used is clean, well-maintained, and report any faults.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
  • Provide a polite, helpful, and empathetic service to patients, visitors, and staff.
