Job Description
Are you passionate about making a real difference in people’s lives? Futures Explored is seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team in Elk Grove. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to provide essential support and care to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them to live more independently and engage fully with their community. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct assistance and support to individuals in daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, medication management, and household tasks.
- Facilitate community integration through participation in recreational activities, social events, and educational programs.
- Assist individuals in developing and achieving personal goals outlined in their Individual Service Plans (ISPs).
- Monitor and document individuals' progress, behaviors, and any significant changes.
- Promote a safe, healthy, and engaging environment for all individuals.
- Transport individuals to appointments and community activities using company vehicles or personal vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with individuals, their families, and other team members.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a caregiving or support role (volunteer or paid)
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Knowledge of person-centered planning principles
