Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and thorough Hospital Housekeeper to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards within our medical facility. This vital role ensures a safe, hygienic, and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will be meticulous, reliable, and committed to upholding the highest standards of cleanliness in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize patient rooms, operating rooms, laboratories, public areas, restrooms, and administrative offices according to established protocols and schedules.
- Empty wastebaskets, transport trash and waste to designated disposal areas.
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and other disposable items.
- Dust, mop, sweep, vacuum floors, and clean windows and surfaces.
- Operate cleaning equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, and vacuum cleaners.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and biohazards.
- Report any maintenance needs, safety hazards, or broken equipment to supervisors.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify management when supplies are low.
- Adhere to infection control policies and procedures to prevent the spread of germs and diseases.
- Provide a positive and respectful presence while interacting with patients and staff.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions precisely.
- Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in cleaning tasks.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their safe application.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, lift (up to 25 lbs), and move continuously throughout shifts.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous housekeeping or custodial experience, preferably in a healthcare or hospitality setting.
- Knowledge of hospital-grade cleaning procedures and infection control.
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
