Job Description
Costco Wholesale is seeking a highly motivated and reliable Early Bird Receiver to join our Pasco, WA team. This critical role ensures the smooth and efficient intake of merchandise, beginning promptly at 4 AM. As an Early Bird Receiver, you will be responsible for unloading trucks, verifying shipments against invoices, inspecting goods for damage, and organizing inventory in the warehouse. This position requires strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. You will be a vital part of our operations, ensuring that our sales floor is stocked and ready for our members each day. This is an on-site position.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately receive, unload, and process incoming merchandise shipments, starting daily at 4 AM.
- Verify contents of shipments against purchase orders and invoices, noting any discrepancies.
- Inspect goods for damage or defects and report any issues to management immediately.
- Safely operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts (training provided if needed).
- Organize and store merchandise in designated warehouse locations, ensuring proper rotation and accessibility.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area and warehouse.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure efficient workflow.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Ability to consistently arrive for a 4 AM start time.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in counting and verification.
- Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and move heavy merchandise (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
- Basic math skills for counting and inventory verification.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in receiving, warehouse operations, or inventory management (6+ months).
- Experience operating pallet jacks, forklifts, or other material handling equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems.
