Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and reliable Exhibition Centre Porter to join our bustling operations team. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth setup, execution, and breakdown of a wide variety of events, from international conferences to major concerts and trade shows. You will be an integral part of our team, working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, supporting the logistical needs of our diverse clientele and contributing directly to the success of every event hosted at the SEC. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work and thrives in a busy, event-driven atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the loading, unloading, and transportation of equipment, furniture, and materials for events.
- Setting up and dismantling exhibition stands, conference rooms, and event spaces according to detailed specifications.
- Ensuring all event areas are clean, tidy, and impeccably prepared for visitors and event commencement.
- Operating basic manual handling equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to all operational guidelines.
- Responding quickly and effectively to ad-hoc requests from event organizers and venue management, maintaining flexibility.
- Adhering strictly to all health, safety, and environmental procedures and regulations.
- Collaborating effectively with various internal and external teams, including production, security, and cleaning, to ensure seamless event delivery.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift and move heavy objects safely and repeatedly.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality are essential for event success.
- Excellent teamwork and clear communication skills to coordinate with colleagues and clients.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently in a high-pressure environment.
- A proactive, positive, and can-do attitude.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as dictated by event schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a porter, warehousing, logistics, or events support role is highly advantageous.
- A valid UK driver's license would be beneficial.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to a large event venue.
- Experience operating manual handling equipment such as pallet trucks or trolleys.
