Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated GSE (Ground Support Equipment) Technician to join our team at the Morgantown Airport location. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a diverse range of ground support equipment, ensuring safe and efficient airport operations. This includes vehicles such as tugs, forklifts, belt loaders, and other specialized machinery vital to our logistics and cargo handling processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on all Ground Support Equipment (GSE) according to established schedules and procedures.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems of GSE to identify faults and determine repair solutions.
- Execute repairs and adjustments on gasoline, diesel, and electric-powered equipment, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and steering systems.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and specialized equipment to ensure proper functioning and calibration of GSE.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed, parts used, and equipment status.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and airport regulations.
- Collaborate with operations teams to minimize equipment downtime and ensure availability for critical tasks.
- Order and maintain an inventory of necessary parts and supplies for repairs.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with GSE technology and best practices.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment, automotive, or ground support equipment.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Strong understanding of gasoline, diesel, and electric engine operation and repair.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced airport environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASE certification (Automotive Service Excellence) or equivalent.
- Previous experience working with airport ground support equipment.
- Vocational or technical school certification in diesel mechanics, automotive technology, or a related field.
- Experience with welding and fabrication.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations for vehicle maintenance.
