Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and professional FedEx Shuttle Driver for short-haul routes operating Monday to Friday. This critical role involves safely and efficiently transporting freight between FedEx facilities within the Wesley Chapel, FL area and surrounding regions. As a Shuttle Driver, you will play an essential part in maintaining the seamless flow of our logistics operations, ensuring timely deliveries and pickups. This position offers a consistent schedule, promoting a healthy work-life balance while contributing to a vital service.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles, including box trucks or tractor-trailers, for short-haul routes between FedEx facilities.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects immediately.
- Ensure timely pickup and delivery of freight, strictly adhering to scheduled routes and timelines.
- Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of vehicle operation, fuel consumption, and freight movement.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, operations staff, and team members regarding route status, delays, or issues.
- Report any vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or delays to management without hesitation.
- Assist with loading and unloading freight as needed, ensuring proper securing of cargo for safe transit.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Clean driving record (Motor Vehicle Record – MVR).
- Ability to successfully pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety procedures.
- Ability to lift and move freight up to 75 lbs.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Reliable and punctual with a professional demeanor.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with short-haul or shuttle driving routes.
- Familiarity with local Pasco County and surrounding Florida area routes.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement is a plus.
