Job Description
Are you looking for a hands-on summer job that teaches you valuable trade skills? American Fence Company is seeking enthusiastic and hardworking Fencing Installer Assistants to join our team in Overland Park for the summer season. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with little to no experience to learn the fundamentals of fence installation from experienced professionals. You will assist our lead installers on various projects, gaining practical skills in construction, tool handling, and teamwork. If you enjoy working outdoors, are physically fit, and eager to learn, this role is perfect for you!
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead installers with the preparation and installation of various types of fences (wood, vinyl, chain-link, ornamental).
- Load and unload materials and tools at the job site.
- Dig post holes, mix concrete, and set fence posts.
- Measure, cut, and assemble fencing materials according to project specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision.
- Provide general labor support as needed to ensure efficient project completion.
- Learn and apply best practices for fence installation and construction safety.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn a new trade.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites in the Overland Park area.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in general labor, construction, or landscaping is a plus but not required.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
