Job Description
Join Mahoney’s Garden Centers as a Garden Center Aide! This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about plants and outdoor work, even without prior experience. We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking individual to assist with the daily operations of our busy garden center. You will be responsible for maintaining plant health, organizing displays, assisting customers, and contributing to a positive shopping environment. Comprehensive plant care training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with watering, pruning, and general care of plants, ensuring their health and vitality.
- Help unload and stock new plant deliveries, merchandise, and gardening supplies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor, including plant displays and pathways.
- Provide friendly and helpful assistance to customers, answering basic questions or directing them to specialists.
- Operate basic garden tools and equipment safely.
- Assist with inventory management and tagging plants.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions to enhance plant knowledge and customer service skills.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, standing for long periods, and working outdoors.
- Strong work ethic and a proactive attitude.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Eagerness to learn about plants and gardening.
- Reliable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic knowledge or interest in horticulture, gardening, or plant care.
- Previous experience in a retail or customer service role.
- Experience working in an outdoor environment.
