Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and meticulous GC-MS Analyst to join our high-precision analytical laboratory team in Mississauga. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing complex GC-MS analyses on a variety of samples, ensuring data accuracy and integrity, and contributing to the development and validation of new analytical methods. This role requires a strong understanding of GC-MS principles, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to quality in a fast-paced environment. A sign-on bonus is offered for qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine GC-MS analyses on diverse sample matrices according to established SOPs.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot GC-MS instrumentation to ensure optimal performance and data quality.
  • Process, interpret, and report analytical data accurately and efficiently.
  • Develop and validate new GC-MS methods for various applications.
  • Assist in the calibration and qualification of laboratory equipment.
  • Adhere to strict quality control procedures, including instrument calibration, linearity checks, and performance verification.
  • Document all experimental procedures, raw data, and results in compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., GLP, ISO 17025).
  • Participate in laboratory investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project deadlines and client expectations.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) systems.
  • Proficiency in GC-MS instrument operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of chromatographic principles and mass spectrometry interpretation.
  • Experience with data acquisition and processing software (e.g., ChemStation, MassHunter).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-throughput laboratory.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, accurate results.
  • Proficient in LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • Experience in a GLP or ISO 17025 accredited laboratory environment.
  • Prior experience with method development and validation.
  • Knowledge of environmental, pharmaceutical, or food testing regulations.
