Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and physically capable Geothermal Drilling Assistant (Mate) to join our dynamic team in Moncton, New Brunswick. This is a critical manual labor role supporting our geothermal drilling operations, offering excellent pay for a hardworking individual. As a Drilling Assistant, you will play an essential role in the setup, operation, and maintenance of drilling equipment, ensuring the smooth and safe execution of our projects. Key Responsibilities
- Assist drillers with all aspects of the drilling process, including setting up and tearing down drilling rigs.
- Handle, lift, and move drilling pipes, tools, and materials on the job site.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on drilling equipment under supervision.
- Operate power tools and other equipment as required, following all safety protocols.
- Monitor equipment and operations for any potential issues and report them promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, participating in safety meetings and drills.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials and supplies.
- Provide general labor support to the drilling crew as needed.
- Learn and adapt to new drilling techniques and technologies.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to perform strenuous manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and a commitment to punctuality and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools.
- Excellent physical fitness and stamina.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean abstract.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in construction, heavy industrial, mining, or drilling environments.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR.
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry).
