Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Hardware Warehouse Clerk with a strong passion for DIY projects to join our team in Simi Valley. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing the flow of hardware products within our warehouse, ensuring items are accurately received, stocked, organized, and prepared for the sales floor. Your deep understanding of tools, materials, and various DIY applications will be a significant asset, allowing you to not only manage inventory efficiently but also to identify products and assist with inquiries when needed. This position requires physical stamina, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming hardware shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders and reporting discrepancies.
- Accurately stock and organize merchandise on shelves, racks, and in designated storage areas according to established procedures.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, and potentially forklifts (if certified), to move and retrieve heavy items safely.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Assist with inventory counts and contribute to maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Prepare and stage products for transfer to the sales floor, ensuring timely replenishment.
- Utilize DIY knowledge to properly categorize and store various hardware items, understanding their function and appropriate handling.
- Provide support to sales floor associates regarding product location and availability as needed.
- Process returns and damaged goods according to company guidelines.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven passion for and knowledge of DIY projects, hardware tools, building materials, and home improvement concepts.
- Ability to lift and move heavy merchandise regularly (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic mathematical skills for counting and inventory verification.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Commitment to safety practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, retail, or hardware store setting.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems.
- Advanced knowledge of specialized tools and building techniques.
- Experience operating warehouse equipment.
