Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as a Hospital Front Desk associate. This critical role serves as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff, embodying our commitment to service excellence and compassionate care. You will manage a dynamic environment, handling inquiries, directing visitors, and providing essential administrative support. Given the nature of healthcare, this position requires flexibility to work across various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as part of a 24/7 roster.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, visitors, and staff warmly and professionally, providing clear directions and information.
  • Manage incoming calls, directing them to the appropriate departments or individuals.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments, ensuring accurate entry into the hospital system.
  • Verify patient insurance information and assist with registration processes.
  • Handle patient check-ins and check-outs efficiently, maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Manage the waiting area, ensuring a comfortable and organized environment.
  • Respond to emergencies and assist with crisis situations calmly and effectively.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk area.
  • Process payments and maintain accurate financial records as needed.
  • Collaborate with medical staff, nurses, and other departments to ensure seamless patient flow.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling software).
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • A positive attitude and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • High level of discretion and respect for patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital setting.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is a plus.
