Job Description

XPO Logistics is seeking Independent Warehouse Contractors to partner with us in our Arlington, VA facility. This is an excellent opportunity for self-starters to leverage their organizational and physical skills in a dynamic logistics environment. As an independent contractor, you will have the autonomy to manage your workload and set your own competitive rates for services rendered, contributing to our mission of efficient supply chain management. This role is ideal for those who thrive on independence and delivering high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently load and unload freight by hand or using appropriate equipment (pallet jacks, dollies, etc.).
  • Sort and organize packages within the warehouse according to established procedures.
  • Verify incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy against manifests or work orders.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Operate warehouse equipment in a safe and responsible manner (if certified and applicable).
  • Collaborate effectively with XPO Logistics staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Manage your own schedule and availability to meet contract demands.
  • Provide high-quality service, ensuring goods are handled with care and efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Basic understanding of warehouse operations and safety procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or similar environment.
  • Experience with pallet jacks or other material handling equipment.
  • Forklift certification (not required, but a plus).
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.
  • Possession of own basic safety equipment (e.g., steel-toed boots).
